Do you want to try the best of the best Japanese ramen? Of course, you do! What better way than with a ranking? Maybe a simple Top 3 is all you need. You can go with the classic Top 10. The 50 Best is a popular number these days. Then you have 100. 百 (pronounced hyaku in Japanese) was chosen for Tabelog’s ambitious 百名店 (hyakumeiten or 100 famous shops) project. Genres of casual grub across the country are given Top 100 lists. Ramen, one of Japan’s most beloved casual cuisines, has its own top 100 list for different regions of Japan.

Here are the top 100 ramen shops in Osaka for 2024. For your convenience, they are listed in order of general ranking. Keep in mind that these lists cover six regions. Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka, East Japan, West Japan, and Hokkaido each have their own page. Happy hunting!

I’ll admit, when the 300 Hyakumeiten added a new 100 shops for Osaka in 2023, I was a bit peeved. You see, I spent a lot of time during the pandemic in Osaka, streaming on my now-forgotten Twitch channel and eating at ramen shop after ramen shop. There were, at the time, over 60 shops I wanted to visit. Work took me out to the area now and then, and I’d stay at a cheap business hotel close to the action. The ramen action. Two shops for lunch and maybe another for dinner. I was crushing bowls left and right. I finished the list in the end, and life was good. Then the new 100 came out and I went from 100% to something like 70%. Not bad, but not close either. The novelty had worn off to an extent and I barely made a dent in the new list.

Good news for the completionists: there are only 7 new shops on this year’s Osaka list. That means that if you put in some work in 2024, you’re 2025 is looking like a walk in the park. Just in time for the Osaka Expo 2025.

I think I’ve only been to 67 out of the 100, but I have trouble keeping track (my website reviews are sadly behind) so it might be higher.
