ラーメン人生 JET 福島本店

Ramen Jinsei Jet is one of Osaka’s most famous chicken ramen spots. Open since 2010, they have scores of fans in the Kansai region and beyond. Expect a bit of a line at any time, despite the sheer number of ramen shops in Osaka’s Fukushima neighborhood. This ramen battleground (激戦区) is a must-stop part of town for any ramen hunter.

Shoyu ramen for a mere 750 yen. Thank you for joining me on Twitch for this one. I spent much time in 2022 in Osaka for my ramen hunting. Specifically, I was trying to complete the 百名店 list of the top 300 shops in Japan. Many are in Osaka and I went very, very hard. This was a solo effort, so live-streaming the hunt was a fun way to entertain me (and hopefully others). By the way, you can see all of my past streams on this secret playlist. I may start streaming again, but I’m taking a break to work on other projects.

I ordered the standard shoyu ramen (和風醤油ラーメン), but internet research a year later shows that maybe I should have gone with the creamy tori paitan (鶏煮込みそば). This is according to Ramen Walker magazine, which gives Jinsei Jet a spot on their coveted Hall of Fame list for the Kansai area. It is also according to nearly every blog that wrote up Jinsei Jet. They also serve a limited bowl on the weekends using Kagoshima specialty chicken (丸鶏中華そば改).

Nonetheless, the shoyu ramen was solid. Standard stuff, but the true heart of ramen isn’t inventive in nature. It’s solid soup, tasty noodles, and umami. You’ll feel great after eating here, and maybe have enough energy to head to another nearby shop in the area.
