肉野菜炒めベジ郎 渋谷総本店

Alright, so this one isn’t really ramen. With that out of the way, all of you Jirorians should head over to Shibuya to try this unique meal.

What is Jiro Ramen? Intense pork soup, noodles made from cheap Oshon flour, a mountain of vegetables (mostly bean sprouts and cabbage), thick-cut chashu, raw garlic, and a ladle or two of pork backfat. VeJiro takes the noodles and soup out of the equation for a carb-light version of the dish.

The pork back fat is free up to 40g (that’s a lot!) but you’ll have to pony up an extra 50 yen to double that with a devil size (鬼油) portion. Please don’t. Or do. When it comes to Jiro, it’s all about your personal choice. Customize your Jiro-topping-stirfry as you like.

There are a few choices. Shoyu, miso, or ponzu? The amount of veggies and the amount of meat. Do you want some butter, cilantro, or raw egg in it? The final result is up to you, but it ain’t gonna be pretty. This is a monster meal.

Vejiro was a fun snack in the heart of Shibuya. It’s right at the base of the famed “love hotel hill.” No, it isn’t something I think I’ll eat again, but never say never in Shibuya.
