麺処 有彩

Ramen is everywhere in Japan. From the streets visited by tour groups and families to the streets visited by . . . a different category of customers. The frank truth is that adult services are as common in Japan a half-cooked egg in ramen. You won’t always find it, but if you want it, it is there.

You’re free to enter this shop if you are over the age of 18. These information centers are there to direct you to whatever you want. If you go in asking for ramen, they’ll probably send you to Arisa. To be honest, the guys working in the adult services industry tend to be very knowledgeable about the ramen scene. Booze, babes, and ramen.

While the rest of the curbside signs on the street advertise their own thing, here it’s all about homemade noodles (自家製麵). The master at Arisa, Sato-san, trained at a slew of famous shops like Mendokoro Honda, Fujishiro, Tsubaki, and Sato before going off on his own. A note from this ill-informed writer, I could only verify that he worked at Honda. The others might not be correct.

The menu is full of variety. Light asari shoyu and shio. Thick kotteri tonkotsu gyokai tsukemen. Light asari konbusui tsukemen. With the shoyu ramen on the left getting the おすすめ (recommended) mark, the choice was easy. I went with shio.

The homemade noodles, made with a Shinagawa brand noodle machine, are solid. They use Nissin brand Number One flour (日清製粉の特ナンバーワン). Soup is a delicate chicken and seafood style. A lot of care went into this bowl of ramen.

You can feel the roots of Mendokoro Honda.

Another one of East Japan’s Top 100 crushed!
