麺屋瑞風

Slightly famous Mizukaze in slightly unknown Tanashi serves a slightly thick toripaitan to customers who don’t mind a short wait. Zuifu (瑞風) means excellent taste, but the shop takes the alternative pronunciation of Mizukaze. Mizu (瑞) means fresh and Kaze (風) means wind.

Luckily, this toripaitan is cooked without much odor, or else the small alleyway that the shop resides in would be anything but fresh.

Arriving at their shop just before 11 am, a line had already formed. Toripaitan and a half order of fried rice for the 134,141st customer of the store. So much information! Was this really in March of 2021? As I write this in November of 2022 I’m just now realizing how backlogged I truly am.

Tabasco, Habanero, and Death sauce are all available to kick up your bowl. I don’t know why the occasional ramen shop loves Death sauce. I personally can’t stand it, and I’m a low-key hot sauce fiend.

It’s a standard bowl of toripaitan ramen. Though it looks a bit intense, the flavors were all mellow and refreshing. I can see the appeal. You should definitely get the fried rice as well. It only comes as a mini side dish, so you can probably crush ramen and rice at the same meal. Probably.

If toripaitan isn’t your thing, Miaukaze has niboshi shoyu ramen on the menu, though it seems like the creamy chicken is the one people gravitate towards.

Keep in mind that they close on Thursdays and Fridays according to the current information. They also tend to run out of soup so it would be in your best interests to arrive well before the closing hours.
