饗膳麺昌㐂

Kyozan (饗膳) seems to mean some kind of banquet. The archaic kanji characters make it seem like a word reserved for royalty, or at the least the very rich. But a google image search shows nothing but cheap plastic food trays. So is this shop “banquet noodles Shoki” or “cheap plastic tray Shoki?” I’ll leave that one for the linguistic nerds out there. For the ramen nerds, we’ve got another rich gyokai tsukemen shop.

A lot of kodawari stuff going on here. No added chemical seasonings like MSG. Domestic chicken and plenty of vegetables in the soup. Dried fish matched with aromatic vegetables. Chashu cooked in their original tare seasoning. I could go on, but the gist is that they made this bowl with a lot of care.

A standard bowl on a fun shopping street in Gakugei-daigaku (学芸大学), a part of Tokyo you might want to check out if you have the time. It’s a cafe-laden neighborhood full of funky hipster spots and some above-average parks. Enjoy!
