貝だし地鶏中華そばあん藤えのしま店

Oceanside ramen in the tourist town of Enoshima. I actually stumbled onto this one completely by chance. I’m still chasing the top shops around Japan, so to spot a shop I’ve never heard of, let alone enjoy the ramen at that shop is a rare occurrence these days.

The view from the water. On occasion, I rent a boat out here and head off to sea. There is plenty to do, like fish for snapper or cruise along the coast. The open water can be rough, but the fresh breeze (usually) makes up for it. If you want to join my boat rides, please do!

This ramen shop is located along the Sakai River, just next to where I take a boat out. Perfect for a post-ride bowl. The shop also has terrace seating. Talk about a nice day out by the beach!

Kaidashi (貝だし) shio ramen. The ramen is made with local shellfish. The base uses specialty chicken as well. It’s a clean bowl with a nice ocean umami going on. Go ahead and treat yourself with a dab of Hokkaido butter topping if you want something decadent. The butter is from Kurashima Ranch (倉島牧場) in Hokkaido. 100% raw milk butter that will melt with ease.

You might want to go for the Iso Shio Butter Ramen (磯塩バターラーメン), if it is available. Local whitebait, the mega-famous-in-Enoshima fish are served with their special butter. It was sold out when I went. There’s also a whitebait butter rice bowl on offer. Also sold out.

Be sure to check out Noan, one of Kanto’s best kakigori shops. Fresh seasonal fruit flavors are served on a pillow of shaved ice.
