人類みな麺類東京本店

Jinruimenrui means “noodles for all humanity.” They come from the oddly-named UNCHI group (unchi means poop in Japanese) out of Osaka. With a few popular shops bringing massive lines in Osaka, it makes sense that they venture out east to Japan’s capital city.

Jinrui’s ramen comes in two main flavors. Macro is a 100% chicken broth spiked with two kinds of clams. Micro is a deep shoyu ramen made with a touch of white wine. Both come with your choice of thick belly chashu or flavorful shoulder. I’d say go for the Macro if it is your first time. Extra chashu.

I’ve had their original ramen, so on this day, I tried their limited shio ramen spiked with umeboshi (梅干). Umeboshi are partially-dried, fermented plums (though actually, they are more of an unripened apricot) that find their way into all kinds of Japanese cuisine. From a rice ball filling to various beverages, the tart little balls add an intense flavor to anything they touch. You’ll see it now and then in a strong shio ramen. In the case of Jinrui’s version, we have strong shellfish undertones and both kinds of the shop’s chashu. A solid bowl.

By the way, at the time of writing it looks like they have opened three or four more shops in Tokyo, as well as a bunch more in Osaka. They also have shops in highway service areas and university campuses. They are serving ramen and beer together at some new concept shops. They have a shop in Nepal of all places. And, yes, this is all from a group that was incorporated as the Poop Group. And yes, those are Egyptian sarcophagus statues outside of their shop.
