ラーメンいのよし

Inoyoshi is a typical gyukotsu (beef bone) ramen shop in Tottori Prefecture, a part of Japan that claims this style of ramen as their own. Inoyoshi is one of the most famous of the lot. It must be crushed!

I managed to hit up three ramen shops in Tottori Prefecture this time around. I’ve now been to nine shops in the area, and feel like I’ve done my due diligence. Tottori is one of Japan’s least visited prefectures. How many good ramen shops can there be anyway?

Inoyoshi is massive, with seats for 50 guests. To keep the screaming children from screaming (lots of families here) you can buy snacks convenience store-style at the entrance. This is normal at family restaurants (think Denny’s) but not so common at ramen shops.

Shoyu, shio, miso, spicy. A soup for everyone. Chashu, green onion, bamboo shoots, corn, butter, bean sprouts, seaweed. A topping for all. There’s also a unique tendon ramen (スジラーメン), playing off the beef theme.

The standard shoyu was nice.

Beef bone soup is a bit sweeter and has a different kind of umami going on. It has a nice richness.

There is another menu with side dishes like fried chicken and what not.

I was surprised to see a signup sheet. I can’t imagine this place with all the seats full and a line out the door.

Though I said I feel like I’ve done my due in Tottori, I’ve only been slurped at two of the top ten ramen shops (according to Tabelog) in the area. The hunt for ramen is intense and never-ending.
