I’m not sure what is going on here at this shop in the eastern reaches of Tokyo. I think I saw a photo on Instagram. A photo of roasted meats atop thick, wavy noodles. I had to check it out.

A short walk from the station. Despite Ayase having a suburban feel it is only a few minutes from central Tokyo.

The signs outside say that the popular combo is stewed beef tendon and BBQ pork. Say what? The name of this dish is Bukkake Ramen. Say what?

There’s a lot on the menu. Stewed tendon, beef tongue, chashu, and combos. They also do rice dishes and alcoholic drinks.

One order of bukkake please! This is their signature soupless ramen. There is souped ramen as well, but if you order that you can’t say bukkake.

There you go. I was a little disappointed with the corn topping. Corn isn’t something I like on ramen. Sometimes a Japanese chef makes special corn ramen using freshly shucked kernels from Hokkaido. In that case, it is tasty. Most corn on ramen is just canned stuff imported from who-knows-where.

Also, it comes with a raw egg. Mix it all up and enjoy a bit of a meat overload.

The whole thing was very garlicky as well. No, it’s not Jiro-style, but I could see this one appealing to the Jiro fans.

The meats were actually excellent, though I think I prefer this kind of thing served on rice.
