麺尊RAGE RENEGADES

Ramen Renegades is the 2nd shop from mega-loved Menson Rage. The style of ramen and vibe of the shop is very similar to the original, but like any top-level shop, there are slight changes. This is one of Tokyo’s top bowls. Kodawari chickens, tare blends to die for, and the most decadent egg in Tokyo.

This shop in Koganei is a bit less convenient for people coming from central Tokyo, but a whole lot better for the scores of citizens living along Tokyo’s famed Chuo Line. This train line cuts across the city’s heart before its perfectly straight line heading west. It’s one of Japan’s most serious commuter tracks, bringing close to three million people to work every day. Otsukaresama (thank you for your hard work). Now have some ramen.

Cool, wierd art adorns the walls. The Rage vibe is kind of like Akira meets Wu-Tang meets Tony Hawk.

Michelin approved punk noodles.

You can buy some of their limited edition stickers if that’s your thing.

I’m not sure about this guy. Rom-chan? Well, he visited in early 2021.

Enough about the art. Let’s check out the ramen.

Craft chickens are a draw at Rage. Okazaki Ohan (岡崎おうはん), Goto 360 (ゴトウ３６０), Kurosatsuma (黒さつま), and Koshu (甲州地鶏) brands are used. The shio tare uses scallops. Shoyu tare is a blend of all kinds of Japanese soy sauces.

It’s hard not to go for the mazesoba. The egg is one of the tastiest things in the world of ramen. Cured in a shoyu tare, I could eat this daily.

I should also note that this branch of Rage has an actual parking lot. Folks out in this part of town tend to have cars, so feel free to avoid the Chuo Line altogether and drive on over.
