Turkey ramen for Christmas? I’m in!

I was hanging out at home perusing recent ramen news on the internet when I saw that a few shops were doing special Christmas bowls. Most people in Japan spend the day doing date stuff aka eating chicken and Christmas cake. Me, I’d rather eat a couple of bowls of random one-off noodles.

Shichisai is one of my favorite shops, and their 100% turkey ramen was something I’d never expect.

Paitan broth made from turkey, homemade noodles, and turkey chashu on top. It was very good. Surprisingly so. The soup tasted a bit like a creamy gravy. The only way it would have been perfect was if there was some kind of cranberry topping.

Menya Sho is close to my place of residence in Nishi-Shinjuku. Their tomato bisque tsukemen was meant to celebrate the season with Christmas colors. Red, green, and white.

The garlic cheese sauce under the noodles was the white Christmas part. Will Tokyo ever have a white Christmas?

This one was mediocre, though cheese and tomato and garlic will always be a winner in some sense. While the turkey ramen was something special, the cheesy tsukemen was a junky mess of flavors we all love. Though I liked the turkey best, it’s the garlic cheese I could eat on a regular basis.
